Martin Greenfield was born in the village of Pavlovo, Czechoslovakia in 1928. The only member of his family to survive the Holocaust, he made his way to the United States in 1947. He and his sons run Martin Greenfield Clothiers in Brooklyn, New York, the leading American maker of hand-tailored menswear. What a life story and how positive Martin stayed! Big recommendation. Great buy. Best book I read in a while.
Ein offensichtlich sehr besonderer Mensch mit einer noch besondereren Lebensgeschichte, die aber leider nicht besonders gut niedergeschrieben wurde. Der Bucheinstieg ist noch ok, aber am Ende wird das eine einzige Lobeshymne auf die USA, teils sehr plakativ. Daher kriegt Herr Greenfield, der mehr erlebt hat als ein einzelner Mensch ertragen kann, leider nur 2 Sterne.
Mag sein, dass das Buch stilistisch nicht das beste ist. Mir ist das jedenfalls bei DER Geschichte nicht aufgefallen und die ist es schließlich, worum es hier geht: die Erzählung eines Lebens, das einen nicht loslässt. Ein wahrer "page turner", allerdings keine erfundene Grisham-Geschichte, sondern ein ereignisreiches Leben voller Hürden und Möglichkeiten.Keine Literatur, aber ich habe mich schon lange nicht mehr so gefesselt gefühlt. Absolut lesenswert, wenn man an Biographien interessiert ist.
Ich habe noch nie ein solch gutes Interview gelesen über eine solch starke Persönlichkeit:[...]Der Artikel bekommt meine absolute Leseempfehlung und das Buch werde ich nun auch gleich bestellen. Großer Respekt an Martin Greenfield!
Liest sich sehr gut. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
